Enhancing student engagement using Airserver

Traditional methods of teaching organic chemistry via lecture do not provide active learning opportunities for students. Instead, meaningful learning occurs when students are encouraged to participate and work on problems rather than waiting to copy instructors’ answers. We report how the use of “iPad with AirServer” in an organic chemistry lecture course can make student thinking visible.

A project conceived by the 2014-2015 Assessment Fellows made an appearance at the ACRL Assessment in Action poster session at the annual meeting of the American Library Association this summer. The project was an effort to activate Hunter’s learning communities by fostering deeper collaboration between faculty in the library and in the first-year writing program.

There will be brief presentations from Hunter faculty as well as time to share about yourself and what is going on in your assessment world. Catherine Raissiguier from Women & Gender Studies will speak on their department's assessment initiatives and Elke Nicolai from the German Department will be speaking on student and alumni success.
