Blackboard tools that promote collaborative learning

When: September 30, 2015, 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Where: E016, Brookdale Campus

Presenter(s): Donna Nickitas, Nancy Guerrero, Shiao-Chuan Kung

Peer learning can be an effective teaching method in a classroom. Students are more likely to learn more from their peers, more inclined to talk in small groups, and more likely to reveal difficulty in understanding to their peers than their teachers.  By putting emphasis on teamwork, students will learn to rely on each other and think creatively, to solve problems, and to make decisions as a team.

Faculty will be guided through the applications in Blackboard to facilitate online collaborative learning through the following tools: Discussion board, Blogs, Wikis and Groups.

Come and join us in exploring ways that Hunter professors have used these tools to promote learning.  We will show actual examples of collaborative online assignments and discuss how professors facilitated the process.
