Who are students of color? What does it mean to be ā€œof colorā€? And how can we, in an educational environment, better aide these students in their academic journeys? These questions formed the basis for an ACERT Teaching Scholarship Circle (TSC) in Spring 2017, and we will continue to explore them through the perspectives and experiences of Hunter faculty, staff, administrators, and students. The seminar will begin with a short discussion of student demographics at Hunter that will be followed by presentations about different mentoring programs, initiatives, scholarships, and approaches to teaching that focus on the backgrounds and needs of Hunterā€™s diverse students.
