In this Lunchtime Seminar at Brookdale, Dr. Donna Nickitas and Shawn McGinniss will share some of their approaches to blended learning in the New York City Nursing Education Consortium in Technology (NYCNECT), a CUNY-wide faculty development program dedicated to the adoption of learner-centered uses of technology to improve nursing education. Faculty will discover how NYCNECT provides a blend of face-to-face and online instruction with “Just in Time” resources to support its learners and achieve the program’s aims. Faculty will learn a few strategies to enhance their online courses, including the use of digital badges to encourage and recognize learner achievement.

In keeping with the format of the Lunchtime Seminars held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 68th Street, faculty members will be asked to share their own experiences with the use of educational technology to enhance teaching and learning as well as their ideas about the kinds of events and programs that would be most useful to them in engaging students in hybrid or fully online courses.

Educational technologists Nancy Guerrero and Shiao-Chuan Kung will also be on hand to discuss upcoming ACERT programs, including a Guided Exploration to be held in January and several Teaching Scholarship Circles to be offered in the spring.
