Classroom assessment techniques can be used to engage students during class sessions and to help instructors understand what their students are learning. In this session, two faculty members will discuss how using mobile devices for assessment has impacted their and their students’ experience.

Kristen Hodnet has used the online tools, Socrative, Kahoot and Google Forms for both formative and summative assessment. She will share her experiences using these tools to increase engagement and interaction in both small and larger groups.

Dongshin Chang will discuss how he uses an in-class student response system (iClickers), as well as the survey option on Blackboard for assessment purposes. He will share sample questions and results to demonstrate how he uses these tools to increase engagement and interaction.
