Student Taskscapes: Understanding CUNY Undergraduates’ Lived Experiences

When: October 17, 2017, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Where: Charlotte Frank Classroom (1203 HE)

Presenter(s): Maura Smale (Library, City Tech) & Mariana Regalado (Library, Brooklyn College)

How, when, where, and with what tools are our CUNY students doing their academic work? Since 2009 we have engaged in qualitative research with CUNY students to learn more about our students’ taskscapes. Their academic taskscapes encompass the totality of each student’s experience, including perceptions of their schoolwork, locations where they work, the tools or support that are available to them, and the people they interact with along the way. Learning more about our students lived experiences — both on and off campus — can help us help them be successful in college and after they graduate.
