Web Writing will introduce faculty to new ways of producing and sharing knowledge in the classroom and beyond using web-based tools and practices. We will focus on various uses of the WordPress platform. The first part of the seminar will emphasize practical aspects of using WordPress to organize students’ informal writing and even replace Blackboard as a hub for all classroom content/communications. Later sessions will explore broader implications of blogging as a model for critical writing, as well as more complex uses of WordPress (e.g., creating annotated texts, constructing pedagogical games, etc.). This Guided Exploration requires no expertise in technology and strives to convince you that this stuff is easier than you think and more pedagogically rewarding than you imagine.
