Small Teaching: Roundtable Discussion on Teaching and Learning

When: March 22, 2018, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Where: Charlotte Frank Classroom (1203 HE)

Presenter(s): ACERT Steering Committee

James Lang’s 2016 book Small Teaching is based on the idea that simple, small changes to our classroom practices and course designs could make large, positive differences in student achievement and overall teaching effectiveness. Drawing on ideas in Lang’s book and his articles in The Chronicle of Higher Education, ACERT Steering Committee members will lead a roundtable discussion that covers key points from Lang’s writing. Our goal is to foster discussion and sharing of ideas, both big and small, among seminar participants. Participants will leave with a new idea that they can try in their courses today, tomorrow, or next semester. For those who want to read ahead, see Lang’s blog posts here and a link to his book here.
