ACERT grew out of a faculty-led effort to enhance teaching and learning at Hunter. We aim to give full-time and part-time faculty at Hunter a space for conversations about teaching with colleagues from across the college. ACERT supports faculty as they reflect on their current pedagogies and learn about other approaches and practices. We offer regular opportunities to explore a range of teaching philosophies and techniques being used at Hunter and around the country, including Lunchtime Seminars, Guided Explorations, and Teaching Scholarship Circles. Areas of focus have included web-based writing assignments, clickers and peer instruction for student engagement, capstones, online and hybrid courses, and helping students develop an academic voice.
