If at first you don’t succeed: What we learn from failure

When: February 28, 2017, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Where: Charlotte Frank Classroom (1203 HE)

Presenter(s): Stephanie Margolin & Sarah Ward (Hunter College Libraries)

Are you ready to talk about your failures in the classroom? We encourage our students to try, fail, and try again, learning from their previous efforts. But it can be uncomfortable to reflect on our own failures. Let’s get to work examining them in a supportive environment using active learning strategies. Through guided activities driven by the participants’ experiences, we will critically examine our work as instructors while sharing with and receiving feedback from colleagues. At the workshop’s conclusion, participants will be prepared to reframe their own failures as opportunities for growth and change and will leave with at least one idea for an innovation built on a previous failure. Will we fail? Join us to find out.
