Guided Explorations
Module-Making Camp
Presenter(s): Shiao-Chuan Kung, Deepa Rao-Sisario & Abigail Torres

June 1-3, 2020 Participate in 2.5-day camp on building an online module. We welcome professors teaching face-to-face, hybrid and online courses!  When inclement weather, medical issues or professional conferences prevent instructors from meeting with their students in person, online modules can be designed to still guide students through a learning experience and not interrupt the flow of the semester. A learning module is a collection of subject-related teaching materials that is carefully sequenced and chunked. In addition to course content, modules contain learning outcomes, directions, learning activities and ways to ascertain whether students have understood the material. During Module-making Camp, we will work intensively to support you as you design one online learning module. We ask you to come prepared with basic skills in Blackboard, to set aside the time to attend all three days and to complete the creation of an online module at the end. We will allocate time for individualized support for recording mini-lectures and for hands-on work with tools such as VoiceThread and Padlet. [Details...]
