Camp Review and Improve

When: October 17, 2020, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Presenter(s): Shiao-Chuan Kung (Center for Online Learning) and many others

We are about half way through a challenging semester. Do you need new ideas for activities in your synchronous and asynchronous class sessions? Are you ready to learn and use a new tool? Or perhaps you need a refresher on tools you currently use? Join us for a two-day camp on revising and improving your courses. We will meet on two consecutive Saturdays in October to discuss ways to make adjustments and to grade more efficiently. Like in previous module-making camps, there will be a mixture of presentations, time for individualized support and hands-on work with tools such as Hypothes.is and Padlet. Participants will plan changes, design new activities, create course materials, or set up their Blackboard Grade Center. During the last session, participants will share their work and get feedback from colleagues. We ask that you commit to both days of camp and complete a component of a class that you will implement in the near future.

Day 1 – Saturday, October 17th
10am – 12pm
  • What is my rhythm and routine? What does my course need more of? What can I do less of?
  • Interactive activities for the synchronous class
1pm – 4pm
  • Interactive activities for the asynchronous class
  • Tool explorations (Padlet, VoiceThread, Hypothes.is)
  • Group work time
Day 2 – Saturday, October 24th
