Join us from Thursday January 4 to Monday January 8 on Zoom for community and accountability, and above all plenty of dedicated time to get your writing projects moving forward!

Winter Writing Retreat Q&A
Q: Who can join?
A: All full-time and part-time Hunter faculty & staff are welcome to participate!
Q: How does it work?
A: On weekdays (Thu 1/4, Fri 1/5, Mon 1/8) we meet at 9am for 15 minutes to share our daily writing goals and progress. And then we’ll leave the Zoom room open until 12pm for those who prefer accountability and quiet writing time together.
Q: What happens during the weekend?
A: You can keep writing or take a break, but there are no group check-ins and group writing sessions on Saturday and Sunday.
Q: I can’t make it every day. And some days I can join only at 10am.
A: That’s fine! Join us when you can. Just keep in mind that quiet writing time starts around 9:15am.
Q: Can I work on ____ during this writing retreat?
A: YES! Past and current writing group members have worked on articles, conference abstracts, translations, dissertation chapters, cover letters, novels, websites, newsletters, grant proposals, teaching materials, syllabi, presentation slides, blog posts, correspondence … They have drafted, edited, journaled, read, annotated their readings … you name it! There’s no set rule about what you can work on. Use this time to make progress on your writing and your projects, whatever form that takes.
Q: What if I can’t make the Writing Retreat dates, but still would like to join virtual writing sessions in January?
A: After the Writing Retreat we’ll open our virtual Zoom writing room at various times in January. If you’re interested in participating, fill out the sign-up form and check the box below the final question. We’ll add you to our mailing list and keep you informed about these sessions.
