Sharing Teaching Materials More Effectively

When: October 25, 2022, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Presenter(s): Jeff Allred (English), Luke Waltzer (Teaching and Learning Center, Grad Center), Matt Gold (English / Digital Humanities, Grad Center)

Enough wheels get reinvented each semester in college classrooms to reach the moon and back. Given that much of what we do as instructors lends itself to remixing, from syllabi to assignments to lesson plans and slide decks, how can we create “gift economies” in our teaching, sharing our work and borrowing/adapting others’ more widely and richly? Our panelists will discuss their ideas and experiences, with special emphasis on GitHub and the CUNY Academic Commons.
