Presenter(s): Jeff Allred, English
Hunter’s Academic Center for Excellence in Research and Teaching (ACERT) invites you to participate in a Teaching Scholarship Circle entitled “Web Writing: Making Scholarship and Teaching Social, Public, and Sharable.”
This series of four seminars will promote the use of web-based tools and practices to encourage faculty to consider new ways of producing and sharing knowledge both in the classroom and beyond. Our circle will focus on three basic concepts:
- using blogging to foster an ethos of spontaneous and informal intellectual collaboration in the classroom, and perhaps in scholarship
- using tools such as wikis to move from private, solitary research and writing to a more collaborative mode of “building and sharing”
- using bibliographic software (e.g., Zotero) to build collaboration into the early stages of research and writing
We will examine best practices in each of these areas, including emerging work in the field of digital pedagogy and scholarship, especially by looking at a range of publicly accessible projects embodying each of these concepts.
We will meet on the following Fridays from 1:00 – 2:30 pm (location TBA).
- February 14
- February 21
- March 7
- March 14
We encourage you to attend all the sessions, which will build on one another.
