When Can We Bring Students Abroad Again? Faculty Perspectives on if/when/how to Re-engage Students in their Research Abroad

When: September 18, 2020, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Presenter(s): Giovanna Cucciniello (Director of Education Abroad, Hunter)

In this webinar, faculty panelists Josh Plotnik (Hunter/GC, Psychology), Jessica Rothman (Hunter/GC, Anthropology), and Sheldon Skaggs (Bronx CC, Chemistry) will share how they have engaged students in their research abroad, from mentorship of students through international fieldwork leading to co-authorship, to creating study abroad programs that expose undergraduates to research in a global context. They will discuss the conditions under which they envision being able to restart these efforts, and will explore the impact of these opportunities with students and alumni (Nicaela Cartagena, Bronx CC ’15, CCNY ’20; Josh DiPaola, Fordham ’10, Hunter ’20; La’Jada Gonzelez, John Jay ’20). They will also be joined by Giovanna Cucciniello (Director of Education Abroad, Hunter) and Prof. Andrew Rowan (English faculty and international education liaison for Bronx CC), and Effie MacLachlan and Ron Nerio from the CUNY Office of Research.

This is an internal event open only to CUNY faculty and staff.  Registration at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/when-can-we-bring-students-abroad-again-faculty-perspectives-tickets-120104757563
