Michael (Psychology) was a Fellow for the 2015-16 academic year. His work focused on connecting with the diverse student body of Hunter College through the principles of Universal Design. Michael’s Teaching Scholarship Circle, “Moving the needle: Implementing universal design in higher education,” helped support faculty who sought to redesign courses to be welcoming, usable, and accessible to students with a broad range of characteristics, including race, ethnicity, native language, culture, age, learning style, background knowledge, ability, gender, veteran status, and disability status. Michael also held a Lunchtime Seminar titled, “Learning from and building on past hybrid courses,” in which he shared his experience designing his hybrid course, “Autism Across the Lifespan.”
