In this semester-long series of four seminars, faculty with some experience teaching online and hybrid classes will share their challenges and effective practices. We will explore pedagogical questions derived both from our own practice and from current scholarship, with an eye towards deepening our practice and further developing our courses.

Discussions will initially focus on four main themes:
· Structuring online activities that foster peer interaction and collaboration,
· Designing student activities that can best be done online using digital tools,
· Creating and facilitating synchronous online meetings
· Assessing students and giving feedback.

These topics may be adjusted depending on the desires of the group.

Each session will begin with one or two participants briefly sharing a part of their course that is relevant to the week’s theme. The facilitators will then lead a discussion drawing on demonstrations, short readings, and related questions. In the final session, we will share artifacts (e.g., new assessment plans, different assignments, additional materials) that demonstrate how our courses have changed as a result of participating in the group.
