All-Star Teaching: Winners of Hunter and CUNY Teaching Awards
Presenter(s): Willie Tolliver (SSSW), Philip Alcabes (Urban Public Health), Frida Kleiman (Chemistry)

In this Lunchtime Seminar, winners of teaching awards from across Hunter will discuss their teaching strategies and philosophies. We will hear from two winners of the Presidential Teaching Award, Willie Tolliver from the School of Social Work, and Philip Alcabes from Urban Public Health. Frida Kleiman (Chemistry) will discuss her project that was awarded the CUNY Idea Grant for Research in the Classroom. We will also provide information on CUNY-wide teaching and research awards applications. The Hunter College WAC Program Presents, “Is Academic Writing a Safe Space?”

Do students find writing for their courses a jeopardizing situation? What effect will that perception have on their work? Can we make college writing a safe space? Should we?  The Writing Across the Curriculum Program and ACERT will host open faculty discussions of the topic on two Fridays in April, the 13th and 20th, at 10 a.m. in room 704 East in the Rockowitz Writing Center.
