C-SELL Faculty Community Engagement Fellowship

C-SELL is the Collaborative for Social Emotional Learning & Leading at Hunter College.

Hunter College invites faculty to step beyond the classroom and into the vibrant cultural life of New York City through the Faculty Community Engagement Fellowship—a six‑week immersive experience that opens doors to some of the city’s most dynamic arts and cultural institutions. Fellows spend the summer building meaningful, hands‑on partnerships with organizations such as the Tenement Museum, the Museum of the Moving Image, and other iconic cultural anchors. The goal is simple but powerful: to deepen faculty understanding of community engagement while strengthening ties between Hunter and the broader NYC arts ecosystem.

The fellowship doesn’t end when summer does. Faculty continue collaborating with their partner institutions throughout the fall semester, transforming insights from the field into shared learning experiences and long‑term relationships. Running from June 2026 through January 2027, the program also offers a $2,000 stipend to support participants as they develop projects, curricula, and initiatives that connect their academic work to the city’s cultural landscape.

Those curious to learn more can join an info session on March 12 at 11am. Applications are open through March 27. Email questions to csell@hunter.cuny.edu.
