Fall is officially here, and our fall semester programming starts next Tuesday, September 29, with a Lunchtime Seminar on “week zero and ice-breakers.” Learn about some creative ways to start the semester, and get to know your colleagues as we try out these ice-breakers. Lunchtime Seminars will continue every Tuesday and Thursday through October 29 – look here for the complete schedule.
Assessment Breakfasts start next Wednesday with an “easy assessment makeover,” and continue on alternate Wednesdays through December 9. Led by Director of Assessment Meredith Reitman, these interactive workshops cover assessment concepts, tools and techniques within a supportive, collaborative environment.
On the evening of Wednesday, September 30, we’re co-sponsoring a wine and cheese reception, along with the Hunter Senate and Faculty Delegate Assembly. Join us at 5:30 in the FDA lounge on the 8th floor of Hunter West.
We’ll be offering two Teaching Scholarship Circles (TSCs) this semester. Our first TSC, starting on October 7, focuses on publishing research on your pedagogy. Participants will design and draft a research manuscript, with coaching from facilitators Laura Baecher and Shiao-Chuan Kung and feedback from colleagues. You can find out more at our October 6 Lunchtime Seminar, when a panel of faculty who participated last semester will share their experiences.
Our second TSC, starting on October 14, focuses on online and hybrid classes. Faculty with some experience with this type of teaching will read scholarly articles on the topic, and will share their challenges and effective practices. This TSC will be co-facilitated by Kristen Hodnett and Nancy Guerrero.
We hope to see you at some of our upcoming events!
