Facilitator: Josh Baron, Executive Director (US Northeast) of Lumen Learning
Hunter College has received funding to support the development of Open Educational Resources (OER) for our students. Many Hunter faculty may already use free or low-cost materials in their courses. The focus of the current initiative is to identify zero-cost courses. More info about Hunter’s effort will follow in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, a representative from Lumen Learning will visit next week to provide an overview of OER developments and describe their impacts on content mastery, completion rates, and overall student success metrics. Practical strategies and guidance for adopting OER at the course and institutional levels will also be available.
For the coming academic year, OER materials that are available through Lumen Learning will be integrated in BlackBoard as well as accessible in other ways with no fees to Hunter students. Faculty have the ability to select, edit, and supplement those materials with other open-source items, self-generated content, and resources owned or licensed by the Hunter and CUNY libraries.
All faculty, including adjunct faculty, and staff are welcome to attend. Please RSVP here.
