Each spring semester, ACERT invites applications for potential Faculty Fellows for the following academic year. In a year-long appointment, Fellows work with ACERT in various ways, depending on their particular expertise and inclination. Open Educational Resources at Hunter Libraries

Finding Open Educational Resources (textbooks, courseware, and ancillary materials which can be freely used, reused, and remixed) can be a daunting task. Adding to this frustration is the fact that OERs are as diverse as the disciplines which seek to employ them. There is no “one size fits all” OER. Enter the Hunter Library’s OER office and our showcase OER repository Open Educational Resources (OER): A Libguide. Though digital pedagogy, digital tools, and OER materials represent a paradigm shift in the way education is provided, the library continues to be the faculty’s guide to available resources and information technologies.

ACERT Event Capsule – A Domain of One’s Own

How should we equip students with the skills and the resources necessary to control their scholarly and creative production, at Hunter and beyond? The “Domain of One’s Own” movement suggests that students be provided a domain name as part of their undergraduate coursework, and use this space to consolidate and present their academic, artistic, and personal content. In recent years, the Domain of One’s Own concept has been adopted by a variety of programs and courses, across an array of disciplines. In this ACERT Event Capsule, Jonathan Bohm (Sociology, NBUniversal), Alicia Peaker (Bryn Mawr College), and Beth Seltzer (Bryn Mawr College) discuss their implementation of this approach.
