Call for 2026-2027 ACERT Faculty Fellows

Call for 2026-2027 ACERT Fellows: Deadline February 27, 2026

We invite applications for three (3) fellows with the goal of broadening participation in ACERT across the college. This call is open to all Hunter faculty. Those in departments that have not yet been represented among ACERT fellows are strongly encouraged to apply.

ACERT fellows will develop programming and resources advancing inclusive teaching and learning at Hunter College. We are especially open to fellows interested in projects relating to educational liberation; culturally-responsive pedagogy; universal design (UDL); equity-focused assessment; student-centered teaching and learning; and student identity and belonging.

Fellows will start serving this Fall 2026 semester, and complete their fellowship at the end of the Spring 2026 semester. Full-time faculty will receive one course release for their year-long commitment, subject to approval of their department chair; and part-time faculty will receive an equivalent in NTA hours. Expectations for fellows are below. Please contact acert@hunter.cuny.edu with any questions you might have.

Submit Your Application

To apply, please fill out this form, and include a statement of endorsement from your department (this could be in the form of an email from your department chair).

Faculty Fellows’ work with ACERT will include:

  • Serve on the Steering Committee, which meets regularly to plan ACERT programs and events.
  • Serve on the Advisory Board, which meets at least once a year to discuss the broad mission, initiatives, and programming of ACERT.
  • Develop and lead a multi-session workshop or seminar (e.g., a Teaching Scholarship Circle) and create resources on a specific topic related to teaching and learning and/or research.
  • Present at and/or organize 1-2 Lunchtime Seminars.
  • Contribute 1-2 posts to the ACERT website.
  • Attend a minimum of 3 ACERT events per semester.
  • Act as a pedagogical ambassador within your department, encouraging peer participation in ACERT events.
  • Provide a brief summary of one’s activities as Fellow at the end of the year.

About ACERT

ACERT is the Academic Center for Research and Teaching at Hunter. We are a community of faculty and staff from across the college who support and inspire each other’s teaching, learning, and research. ACERT offers an inclusive and supportive space for Hunter faculty and staff in any role and at any point of their career to collaborate, explore innovative ideas, and share best practices in research and teaching. We believe supported faculty become better scholars and teachers, delivering the very best educational experience for our students. In line with student-centered and active learning we promote in the classroom, our programming centers peer-to-peer support and draws on the incredible collective knowledge and expertise of Hunter faculty and staff. We invite prospective fellows to attend ACERT events and learn more about our history and structure on our website
