Listening Sessions with Hunter College Librarians

Questions about the Hunter College Libraries? We're here to listen. We know you have lots of questions about access to library services and resources for yourself and your students for the coming semester. We want to hear them. Therefore we invite you to join Hunter College librarians at an upcoming listening session where you can ask questions and discuss your concerns. At these half-hour sessions, Hunter librarians will be available to listen and take note of any questions that arise. We will then use the questions you ask us to develop subsequent faculty-focused workshops and online content intended to address your most pressing questions.

Summer 2020 Faculty Working Groups

Faculty working groups are cohorts of instructors who meet together to develop their online or hybrid syllabi and activities for Fall 2020 or Spring 2021. Each group will have a different teaching focus and be led by experienced Hunter faculty who will help participants share ideas, problem-solve, and support one another through their syllabus design process. Groups will meet online at least four different times with meetings including a mixture of whole-group discussion, individual consultation, individual work time, and whole-group presentations. At the end of the last group meeting, participants will share their course syllabus and some of the activities they created. Participants who attend all sessions, complete their course syllabus, and present to the group will receive a stipend.

Online Course Design Workshops

As you prepare to design and teach your summer course online, we are here to help you. Join us for one of four week-long course design workshops. Each workshop consists of a series of presentations related to different aspects of online teaching and learning. These workshops focus on course development and implementation. For support for Blackboard tools, consider attending workshops offered by the Technology Resource Center. There will be three presentations every morning and three time slots in the afternoon for you to sign up to work with a staff member individually. Choose the presentations that interest you and attend as many as your schedule allows. The presentations will repeat over the four weeks, so you can repeat or attend a presentation at a later date.

Note from OER Librarians

The library buildings may be closed, but the librarians are still working remotely to help you with research, finding resources, and more. Our Ask a Librarian chat service is operating 24/7 with librarians available to answer your questions. If a Hunter or CUNY librarian is not available (in the middle of the night, for example), a librarian from another institution will work with you and refer the question to a Hunter librarian if necessary. You can also e-mail us and a librarian will get back to you.
